"Change the oil" in your home's
heating & air conditioning system!
Maintaining your heating and air conditioning systems helps keep you comfortable while saving you money.
Regular maintenance makes systems more efficient. Not only will they heat and cool more effectively, they'll use less energy to do it, and that saves you money on your utility bill! Plus, more efficient systems put less wear and tear on its components. Less wear means longer life, saving you money again!
It's cheaper and easier for you to schedule regular maintenance than to risk missing work to schedule emergency service when something breaks.
You wouldn't dream of driving your car for a year or two without changing the oil or rotating the tires. But unlike your car, your heating and air conditioning system has to be on the job 24 hours per day! Day or night, your system works to keep you warm or cool. It needs routine maintenance to operate efficiently, reliably, and safely throughout its lifetime. If you don't keep it maintained, your system will quietly lose efficiency (requiring more and more energy to keep you comfortable) long before it breaks down.
Let's look at the different parts of your system, and why regular maintenance is so important:
Air Filters & Indoor Coil
You may think "less dust" is the only reason to change your air filters. But your filters are also there to protect your indoor
coil. Refrigerant flows through this coil, which needs the proper amount of air passing across it. The dirtier the coil or filter
gets, the less air flow you have, which keeps it from cooling the air properly. The worse this gets, the less efficient your
system becomes, and the more electricity it consumes. This also puts more strain on the fan motor and compressor, causing
premature failures.
This coil is also where condensation from cooling takes place. The condensation washes any dirt that gets in down into your drain pan. Dirt in the drain pan causes clogs, which can lead to overflows and water damage.
Condenser Coils
The condenser coil is in the outdoor part of your system and is where heat transfer takes place. Proper heat transfer keeps
refrigerant pressure down, which protects the compressor and makes the whole unit operate more efficiently. This coil has no
filtering system and is exposed to the elements, so regular cleaning is very important.
Lubrication
Your system has moving parts which need regular lubrication, both to keep them quiet and help them last. Our trained technicians
know exactly which parts of your system require lubrication as part of your regular maintenance.
Electrical Connections
There are many electrical components in your system. Over time, connections can become loose and cause heat to build up,
eventually causing your unit to fail. This usually happens in the hottest part of summer or the coldest part of winter!
We check and tighten all your electrical connections with every maintenance.
Refrigerant
Every air conditioning and heat pump system contains refrigerant. It is important to have the proper amount of refrigerant in
your system: too much or too little can damage your compressor. Refrigerant never gets used up; if you are low on refrigerant,
you have a leak in your system. Having our qualified technicians check the refrigerant level in your system will save you money
and keep your system running when you need it the most!
Duct System
You simply must have a duct system that is sized for your unit and designed for your home's layout. We find that many heating and
air conditioning problems can be traced to a poor duct system. No matter what kind of equipment you have, without a proper duct
system you won't have efficient heating and cooling or even temperatures. If your duct system has shifted or come apart, you are
spending money heating and cooling your attic or crawlspace! We'll inspect your ductwork as part of our maintenance, and tell you
exactly what shape it's in.
Every mechanical system will eventually wear out. No maintenance plan can completely prevent breakdowns, and eventually an old unit will need to be replaced. But with our maintenance plan, you can maximize the life of your system, and allow it to run as efficiently (and therefore inexpensively) as possible.
The best part is, there's no risk. A Conditioned Air Solutions Service Partner Plan is 100% risk free! You can cancel at any time, before or after your maintenance service, by simply letting us know. If you aren't happy with the maintenance work that we do for any reason whatsoever, simply let us know and we'll tear up your bill. You will owe us nothing.
