Starting January 1, 2015, manufacturers won’t be legally allowed to produce 13 SEER (or below) units for the southern region of the United States. That means all new units coming off the manufacturing lines will have at least 14 SEER rating.
We don’t sell a lot of 13 or 14 SEER units as most of our customers prefer the significant energy savings of higher efficiency units. But there are places where they still make sense. If that applies to you, dealers will still have current 13 SEER units in stock for a while, and they have 18 months in which to sell and install them.
